Tighe Hutchins was a founding team member with Big Green (formerly The Kitchen Community) having joined in 2011. In six years since Big Green was founded, the organization now impacts over 250,000 kids everyday with Learning Garden classrooms in nearly 450 schools across six major American cities. As the President, Tighe helps co-founder Kimbal Musk pursue the dream that every school child in America has the opportunity to learn about Real Food. Tighe has worked with Big Green to help create, build, and implement a scalable and successful outdoor educational program for schools with Learning Gardens over the past 5 years. Her passion for this work comes from her background in Sustainable Food Systems and Environmental Education. Previous to Big Green, Tighe worked in the for profit sustainable food systems sector specifically in the natural food industry where she focused and supported early growth, start-up companies. She has also spent time teaching environmental education and coaching youth sports. Tighe was a 2018 Forbes 30 under 30 finalists and with Big Green, received the 2018 Martin Luther King Jr Business Award for the state of Colorado. Tighe earned and a B.S in Conservation and Resource Studies from The University of California, Berkeley.
